More LFL games needed!

The 2015 LFL USA schedule and teams competing are set to be announced January 20 and from a fan perspective, there simply wasn't enough games in 2014! The regular season consisted of five teams in both the Eastern and Western Conference, each team playing every other team once for a total of four games. The most basic issue here is that this involved two home and two road games. The probability of a win is significantly higher at home than on the road, so the luck of the draw in terms of which games are at home can significantly affect the final standings.

To illustrate, Omaha lost both road games and won both home games in 2014. Unfortunately for them, their road games were against the top two in the conference, with the game against Atlanta in particular very tight. Atlanta ended as conference champions, but if Omaha had instead happened to play them at home and Toledo on the road, there's a very good chance they'd have won both and been champions themselves! Such is the unfairness of not playing every opponent both at home and on the road.

Even aside from this fairness issue, four games (and just two at home) isn't enough for fans to fully engage with the league. By comparison, NFL teams play a 16-game schedule. A significant improvement therefore would be an 8-game schedule with four home and four road games.

Another issue is having a greater number of teams. Given the potential fan base in New York for example, it just can't be good for the future of the league that there isn't a team based there.
